Over 60 thousand lei were gathered for the children with special needs at the photo exhibition of Aurel Cepoi – “Central Asia. A journey “

Dozens of people came last night, February 11, to the selling exhibition of photos “Central Asia. A journey “, to support children with special needs from Tony Hawks Centre in Chisinau. Exhibition’s invitees had the opportunity to admire and purchase the work of amateur photographer Aurel Cepoi, made while traveling in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan. The Charity event took place in the Kentford building, with the support of the law firm “Efrim, Rosca si Asociatii” and MolDeco company.

“In the last two and a half years I have traveled a lot to Tadjikista, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan and I was impressed by the traditions and culture of these countries, mountains, people. We immortalized these moments through photographs. I’m not a professional photographer, I’m just an amateur. I do not know the value of these photos, but I know that together we can help children with disabilities in Chisinau”, said the author of the exhibition, Aurel Cepoi.

According to organizers, in just a few hours there were sold more than 50 photos. The collected funds, over 60 thousand lei, were donated to the Tony Hawks Center for construction of the first gym for sports activities for disabled children in Moldova. It will be built on the current terrace of the Center. At the charity event, the visitors had the opportunity to purchase the bestseller “Tennis with the Moldovans” by Tony Hawks, and the cookbook “Cooking for Moldova” by Jo Batson, wife of British Ambassador in Chisinau, Phil Batson. The money raised from the sale of books were also donated Tony Hawks Center.

Tony Hawks Center is a non-governmental, non-profit organization for children with chronic diseases fromvulnerable families. For 15 years, the institution provides free medical and social rehabilitation for disabled children aged up to 18, who have no financial possibilities for being involved in recovery programs. The center was created and is funded by the famous British writer and actor Tony Hawks.
